The 2012 T-Ball season is just around the corner so come join us to learn basic skills! HDLL veteran umpire Lou Kardonsky (who also happens to be a grandpa to a T-Baller) will be hosting Saturday morning clinics that promise to be fun and instructive. Meet us at the indoor clubhouse next Saturday morning (Feb 18th) from 10-11.

 

Bring sneakers and a mitt if you have one. And just to let you know—if the sun is shining Lou will want to play outside, so bring a sweatshirt.

 

If we get good attendance, Lou is happy to keep make it a weekly event.

Lost: Blue and Black Nike bag w/helmet, mitt and bat

Jan. 31 - Someone grabbed the wrong gear bag Saturday when they left the tryouts from the back area behind the bleachers. It’s a blue and black Nike bag with a blue Nike batting helmet, black Nike Baseball Mitt and a blue and black bat.  I have what I assume is their Louisville Slugger bag and would like to get ours back. If you have any info on who might have our bag any contact info would be great.

Our final pre-season clinic will focus again on hitting and will be held on Sunday, February 5th.

Clinics are held between 1:30-3:30pm at the clubhouse, exact time TBD (I will send you a confirmation with the time). Each session will be limited to no more than 20 players and be filled on a first-come, first serve basis. Anyone enrolled in HDLL this past year is eligible. If you are interested in having your child participate, please reply to this email or contact me at mark.decker@comcast.net to reserve your spot.

Final Divisional Training Dates

Some of the divisional training has ended and some will continue. Here is the updated schedule:

 

  • AL: Completed
  • Pac 7/8: Tuesday, Jan. 31 and Tues., Feb. 7 from 6:30-8pm (hosted by Craig Carlsen)
  • NL: Wed., Feb. 1 from 6:30-8:00pm (hosted by Andy Hahn)
  • Juniors:  Sat., Feb. 4 from 3-5pm; then Saturdays from 1:00-3:00pm until announced otherwise (hosted by Paul Nevue)
  • Seniors: TBD

This position is responsible for taking orders, preparing and overseeing the preparation of food and drinks to be served in our concession stand. It will be necessary to comply with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards to minimize loss, waste, and fraud. If you are a friendly and outgoing person that enjoys working with people and interacting with kids this may be the position for you!

Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Provide excellent customer service to take orders, handle cash and credit card
  • transactions
  • Prepare , oversee, and serve food and drinks
  • Comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards.
  • Observe proper food preparation techniques
  • Maintain a clean and stocked Snack Bar
  • Operate industrial sized kitchen equipment, i.e., grill, fryers, coffee machine, etc.

Education and/or Experience:
Will be happy to train employee. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Food Handler’s Card. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Pay: $9.50 per hour, average hours per week: 16

Last year we introduced a new format which replaced traditional try-outs.  All enrolled Juniors participated in a HDLL Jrs baseball camp over three weeks, beginning early March.  HDLL Juniors coaches rotated instruction during that period, and were able to become familiar with the players.  We then held the player draft, scheduled for March 22 this year.  This alternate to try-outs was very successful as the players were more comfortable and able to integrate more easily with other players.  Currently we are planning on repeating this successful approach.  Check back onto this site late February for more information.

Games for the Juniors Division usually start week after Spring Break.

Games for Seniors typically start last week of April.

Games for Big Leagues start typically second week in May.
