Tournament Addendum for AL and NL
Tournament Addendum for AL and NL
Enacted for 2011 Season
2011 HDLL Tournament Addendum (American and National League Only)
Revision: C
1. Time Limits
a. No new inning to start after 2-1/2 hours after the SCHEDULED start time. If there is a tie after the last allowed inning, then the game will revert back to the last complete inning where a team had the lead.
b. For the American League only, there will be a 5 run limit per inning except in the “last” inning (normally the 6th) or “extra” innings when runs will be unlimited. The “last” inning can be any inning after the 3rd as decided by the umpire (This would be done in the event of looming inclement weather or time limit reasons only)
2. Umpiring
a. Every effort should be made to insure Umpires are not from the Division being played. The League Umpires will give priority to the NL games. If needed Team umpires will be assigned as follows:
I. AL games to be umpired by NL Teams
II. Pac Coast games to be umpired by AL Teams.
b. At least 2 umpires need to be supplied for each game by the responsible team.
c. The League Master Scheduler will make all umpiring game assignments.
3. National League Pool Play Scoring and Tie Breaker Protocol:
a. Win/Loss record (1 point per win 0 points per loss)
b. Results of the head to head match-up
c. 3 or more way tie: Runs allowed per inning of defense played in pool play. (a higher number is worse than a lower number)
4. Rain outs
a. Absolutely every attempt will be made to make sure we get the full tournament played. For the American League, the “loser’s bracket” will be dropped only as a very last resort.
b. AL/NL: The late game on the NL field will be used if needed during the week
c. If needed, games will be played on Sunday (June 5th) with the first game at 12:30 (Concessions will NOT be opened)
d. If no rescheduling is possible then the league commissioner will determine the tournament format.
5. All decisions regarding the game are made by the managers on the field and the umpire. In the event it cannot be resolved between those individuals it is the League Commissioner who will make the final ruling. The board member on duty has no authority to make any game play related ruling.
6. Player Pool usage is allowed. Regular season protocol will be followed with the following added restrictions:
a. They must play the outfield only (unless there are not enough rostered players to play every infield position in which case they can not pitch, catch or play 1st)
b. They must bat in the last position in the batting order.
7. Home and Visitor is determined by a coin flip prior to the game. Please use the appropriate dug out to keep fans from being confused. (match the score board: Home on third base line)
